What is 4 flights up?

I’ve never considered myself to be a writer, not by any means. I dreaded writing when I was in school, and even now when I hear the phrase, “write a paper,” a little part of me cringes inside. However, as I look to turn 30 this year; having been married, had two amazing children and alongside my husband, planted a church in NYC, I feel like I shouldn’t rely on my memory alone to record and treasure this roller coaster of a decade.

My name is Anna, and my husband Rich is Pastor of Christ Crucified Fellowship in Washington Heights, NYC. And while my writing won’t always be about my life as a pastor’s wife, a church planting wife at that, it will be about the journey I’ve been graced to be on. There’s tons that I’ve laughed about and tons that I’ve cried over, but I’ve learned something in all of it and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Like I said, we’ve landed in the Heights, and that’s also exactly where we live; two blocks from where Rich was born and raised, no less. Sometimes I consider myself somewhat of an anomaly in my community; in my twenties, happily married and a stay at home mom to two kids in a fourth floor walk up. I have a heart for the women in my community, and deeply desire that Jesus would be made real to them in their lives. This blog is for them too. Since I live here, hang out here and raise my kids here, I’m hoping and praying that my experiences wouldn’t be something that they wouldn’t be able to relate to, but for any woman to look at my life and see, we’re not that different after all.

It’s been a long time coming, but I think I’m ready. I’m ready to share this adventure and invite you into my life. So stay tuned as I write you my stories, all of them from my little apartment, 4 flights up.
